WASHINGTON -- Following is a statement from Change to Win Chair Anna Burger on the results of the 2007 elections in Kentucky.

"The working families of Kentucky have reason to celebrate tonight. The voters of Kentucky made their voices heard in today's election, and they said they support leaders who support working families.

"For months, members representing the largest unions in Kentucky -- the Change to Win unions -- devoted countless hours, resources and energy into electing pro-worker candidates throughout the state. Together, they made hundreds of thousands of phone calls, sent out hundreds of thousands of direct mail pieces and conducted member-to-member outreach at every worksite in the state.

"This election shows that Americans want change. They want leaders with integrity who will fight for working families by supporting policies that provide good jobs with wages that can support a family, access to affordable, quality health care, a dignified and secure retirement, and the opportunity for a better future for our children.

"Americans are ready for leaders who will make the American Dream a reality for all working families, in Kentucky and across the nation."
