WASHINGTON, DC -- Change to Win chair Anna Burger issued the following statement today regarding the united efforts of the labor movement to fight for economic justice and progressive social change.

"The labor movement is united in purpose and principle. We stood together in support of Barack Obama and pro-worker candidates in 2008; and, now stand together on the brink of passing both labor law and health care reform.

Today, working women and men have the greatest opportunity in a generation to rebuild the middle class and restore the American Dream. All the unions of Change to Win, the AFL-CIO and the NEA have formed a national coordinating committee to ensure we are united in our fight for economic justice and progressive social change. We are ready and mobilized for change. Our movement is diverse and democratic. Debate and disagreement on organizational tactics is not division in direction and agenda. From our differences we derive our strength. Today's debate is our commitment to the future of the labor movement."
