Election 2006

Election Day 2006 is quickly approaching, and Change to Win and its affiliates are hard at work in all 50 states. We’re committed to helping elect leaders who care about issues that matter to working people and support the right of workers to form unions and have a strong voice on the job.

We’re encouraging the six million members of the Change to Win unions to get registered, get informed, get involved, and get to the polls on November 7. Click here to find your polling place.

Who you vote for is a personal choice, but when weighing your choices find out where the candidate stands on healthcare, retirement security, the right to unionize and other important issues:

  • Does this candidate have a plan to address the health care crisis in America?
  • Is this candidate proposing ways to ensure retirement security or looking to privatize Social Security?
  • Does this candidate support workers’ rights by supporting the Employee Free Choice Act and other pro-worker legislation?
  • Does this candidate support raising the minimum wage, or giving raises to Congress?
  • Does this candidate support policies that require fair trade or treaties like NAFTA and CAFTA that send jobs overseas?
  • Does this candidate stand with working people or with CEOs?

For information about the positions of the candidates and how to get involved in your area, check in with your local union.

Referenda Fights

In addition to making sure you vote for candidates that support your rights and interests, we urge you to support ballot measures that will help make work pay for everyone. See below to find out about the minimum wage amendment campaigns taking place in six states this year, the movement to protect affirmative action in Michigan and anti-TABOR campaigns in four states.
