New Poll Shows Majority Support Employee Free Choice

Poll chart

Sam Stein at the Huffington Post reports on a new poll fromThe Gallup Organization that shows a majority of Americans support passing the Employee Free Choice Act:

Gallup Surveys released a study on Tuesday finding that 53 percent of respondents favored a new law that would “make it easier for labor unions to organize workers.” Only 39 percent of respondents opposed such a law.

When asked how important it was that Congress pass such a law, 26 percent of respondents said “very,” 29 percent said “somewhat,” 23 percent said “not too important,” and 20 percent said “not important at all.”

Added up, the findings provide a solid boost to EFCA backers, with 55 percent expressing some desire to see Congress act on the legislation and 43 percent expressing a level of opposition or ambivalence (three percent said they had no opinion).

Perhaps if the poll asked specifically about the bill and included it's wording, you would not have the positive response you desire.........

We really do not want the "card check" implementation unless we want more corruption and a lower standard of living..........

We are already organizing at an assisted living chain in MA.We are ready to come into the open as soon as the Employee Free Choice Act is signed into law.We have President Obama, Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis, Sen. Ted Kennedy, Chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pension Committee, a majority in the House of Representatives and enough votes in the Senate to open debate on EFCA.
The Employee Free Choice Act was introduced in the 109th Congress and has passed all sub-committee hearings. The 111th Congress introduced the bill onto the floors of the House and the Senate within 3 weeks of President Obama's administration.
Labor Secretary Hilda Solis is our LABOR=WORKERS advocate. We must continue to support her as she fights against wealthy lobbyists especially the Chamber of Commerce. Call your local Chamber of Commerce and tell them you support The Employee Free Choice Act.

Hard Working Families deserve better Choices. I'm supporting the Employee Free Choice Act, because it provides a chance for healthcare, better wages, democracy in the work place and a chance to hold CEO and Corperate FAT CATS accountable for their actions. Employee Free Choice is the Choice Working Families need.

You know if unions are so great shouldn't detroit be disney world???? Unions feed on the uneducated and ignorant. My question or questions to all union loving people are thses. If the company you work for is so bad then why do you keep working there? Did your present employer come knocking on your door at home and ask to come work for them? Does a high school drop need to make 20 bucks an hour at walmart? If so why? what has he or she done to deserve that? There are only 2 reasons why people want a union First it's because they don't know any better. (ie not educated) 2. Greed. Greed on your part and greed on the union bosses part. What I find funny is that unions use emotion in order to get your vote. They will tell people a story to piss you off and then say here join us and will make all your dreams come true. When in fact they only want your union dues so they can live a better life off your earnings and all they did was tell you a story. Buyer beware. Educate yourselves then you can see what they really are about. Look at all the companies that unions have drove into the ground are yet still driving into the ground. Stand up for yourself. If you want "change" it's not going to happen unless you get up and get an education and do it yourself. Stop being lazy and just do it. Yeah it's going to suck for a few years while you go to school but will be well worth it.

jr, and dj... Tell it like it is!! You are proof that there are some in this country who still have functioning brain cells.. I love the innocuous and innocent sounding terms the liberals come up with to promote their own agenda of greed aided by the useful idiots they supposedly care for. Tell me when in this free country have we EVER voted for anything in the open? IE...had it been made known of how we voted? What the hell is free in this 'choice'? Oh, yeh... Free as in the word; 'choice' Just as long as you 'choose'; YES. I suppose you believe coercion, and intimidation are virtuous as well! Are you lemmings serious?

For you drones that don't get it, let me make this clear for you with one possible scenario. If you say no, Guido pays you a visit at midnight to strongly suggest the benefit of your saying yes, starting with it being more healthy for you and your family given his visit.

Questions, Lemming drones: Why has GM, Chrysler, and almost Ford (but give it time) needed bail outs, and why has non-union Honda NOT needed one?? Why are FedEx employees happy with their non-union shop, but FedEx just recently put on hold some 30 Boeing 777's for their desired expansion (job creation Lemmings)? Answer: because of this corrupt bill! FedEx knows they would be pushed into the red, trying to expand with this waiting in the wings. This is payback by your Obamessiah for union support. It is about power, control, socialism on steroids, and it is destruction of Capitalism and what made America the greatest country on the face of this planet.

One more thing: A few years back there was a family owned bicycle company in southern Ohio that had recently closed its doors. Many of the employees had worked for this wonderful company for 30 years or more. They became unionized, and the day that the doors closed they stood there dumbfounded. After all the union promised them job security, and high wages. They still had job security, it's just that now, they would have to move to China to work. You figure it out, but here's a hint. Sunshine was pounded up their asses by the union, and they shot themselves in the foot with ridiculous demands.. It didn't work. The company could no longer make money. No one wanted to buy there products because they cost too much! Get it? It's all about Power, Control, and your DUES..

PS. I understand that just recently several Pigs at the top in unions just had a great weekend at a five star hotel in Miami, courtesy of the useful idiots dues, celebrating this bills possible passage.
You want this "FREE CHOICE" and you know nothing about what it stands for. You are IDIOTS!
'Secret Ballot initiative'. Google it!!
Google 'Cap and Trade' and the hoax of 'global warming'.
Just between these two insane bills courtesy of the 'magic negro', at the direction of the UN, we'll be lucky if our fast foods aren't farmed out to China.. WE are surrounded by idiots, and I resent our country is being systematically destroyed by your ignorance, and greed.

I am a forced union member, as I was forced to join to work, and I approve of this message.

DJ and CF,

FYI: This is not your granddaddy's capitalism. This is not the "capitalism that built America." This is a ferocious strain of capitalism. This is a capitalism in deep crisis. This is a capitalism that is killing America and the world.

Everyone knows that the banks caused this crisis. Some defenders of the banks say, "The banks didn't do it on purpose. You are accusing the banks of conspiring to commit economic suicide." Well, suicide is easy when it's not you dying. If you shoot the economy three times in the chest and you make a fortune doing it, that's armed robbery. Attempted murder. But then, as the economy is coughing up blood, lying on the floor dying, you take for yourself the emergency infusion of blood given by the government to the economy and you continue to argue that shooting the economy wasn't wrong and the government shouldn't confiscate your weapons, there is one word for you: sociopath. The banks are out of control.

Even people with degrees don't stand a chance in this economy. The middle class is dying.

I am not a fan of the socialisms of the past. I also agree with you that unions need to be democratically run and if union resources are being squandered by unethical union leaders, rank and file members should organize to throw those people out of office.

But guys, unions are seriously not the problem. The problem is also not the guy working at Wal Mart or Chinese workers. We have a lot in common with Chinese workers. We all have very little power against those who control our factories, offices, financial systems.

The only way to build up our power is to participate. There is no one to rely on. I agree with you that Obama will not save us.

So, we have to do it ourselves. We have to work together to ask the government for a new economic system that treats us fairly. This system might be the capitalism of the past that you admire. Or it might that and something new. We don't know yet. But we can't let them go on without us. Our interests -- the interests of ordinary, regular people around the world -- must be part of the conversation. Unions are the traditional way that working people fought their way into the conversation, and EFCA is a way to insure that more working people get their voices heard.

Employee Free Choice Act is doubletalk for Employee No Choice Act.

Whatever happened to someone sticking up for their rights as a group...kind of like what happened back in 1776. You people kill me with your anti-union brainwashing that you have accepted. Here is the deal...if all people ever did was accept what was thrown to them then we would all be working for grunt wages while 1% of the world lived like Kings. "United we bargain, divided we beg"...this is how the Union works and this is the only chance the middle class has at this point. I am a retired Teamster and have fought for workers rights for many years...without someone pushing for better wages and benefits, we would all be sleeping in the streets. If you consider yourself middle class and are not a Union worker you should be thankfull that a few people fight for union wages and benefits because that is the standard that sets the bar for everyone else...no unions, no decent wages for anyone. I am a proud Teamster and have the Pension payment to prove it...$3250 every month for the rest of my life..just like clockwork...how is your 401K, that your employer lets you pay for, doing lately. Be thankful there are people who fight for their rights.
