Solis Nomination Clears Committee

Hilda Solis

After seven weeks of delay, there’s finally progress on the nomination of Rep. Hilda Solis to be the nation’s next Secretary of Labor. Last night, the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee voted to move her nomination along to the full Senate for a floor vote:

The selection of Solis, 51, was approved by the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions today by a voice vote with two dissensions. The nomination now goes to the Senate floor for a final confirmation vote as early as tomorrow, according to Anthony Coley, a spokesman for the panel.

Congratulations to Rep. Solis, and here’s hoping the full Senate acts swiftly to confirm her so that she can get to work!

Shouldn't we be flooding Harry Reid's office with calls right now to make sure this happens?

There could be a floor vote on it as early as today, so further action might not be necessary. We'll be posting updates here as events unfold.

Solis in charge of the Labor Dept. is like the Fox guarding the chicken coop

It will be good to see the republican backed chickens in the corner for a change.

To those who oppose labor let's not mince words:

There are two masters in this world

Union
Management

UNION is the best.
Keeps management honest.

Long live the UNION...

"Yes We Can" when we take our gloves off and fight! I'm so damn proud to be union-Working America!
I work 22.5 hrs/wk @$9/hr. Crummy health insurance eats up 22% of my paycheck. I've say through 1 union busting video and my assisted living employer is scared stiff of unions. If they knew I was Working America I'd be fired.
Wednesday (2/11) I moved into a women's shelter; I can't pay the going rent; my 84 year old mother used to send me money when she could buy now her retirement went bust and she's just getting by for now.
Hilda Solis is a god send! Our damn management won't know what hit them when she gets going!
I'm holding on for the ride of my life!
Ya Basta!
