Great post by Emptywheel at the Firedoglake blog about all the union workers whose efforts ensured that every passenger walked away safely from yesterday’s crash of a US Airways flight into the Hudson River:
They’re calling it a miracle—the successful landing of a US Airways jet in the Hudson and subsequent rescue of all 155 passengers. They’re detailing the heroism of all involved, starting with the pilot and including cabin crew, ferry crews, and first responders. What they’re not telling you is that just about every single one of these heros is a union member.
As the kids say, read the whole thing.

That's right. Union people, acting heroically and responsibly on the job---who'd have thunk it?
I am very proud of that crew, and the passengers who paid attention to them. Since I fly quite often, I'm not going to dismiss the dance anymore when the safety measures are being tutored. I'm going to watch closely! It saved lives.
