I’ll have more on this shortly, but for now consider this an open thread. How do you feel this morning?

This morning I told my two boys how we just made history. To be honest, as a 38 yr old mother, I have not seen or experienced discrimination in my life. My family and communities have seen "people", not color. I never was exposed to racial imbalance. BUT, I hope that as a fairly intelligent person, my children do know that it does still exist, although they have not seen it either. Today is so important for all of us. The humility in President elect Obama's speech made me cry. It wasn't just him, it was us! The Americans that believe in good values of the heart. The Americans that believe "May The Best Man Win" means the best soul, the strongest, most well-meaning individual who has everyone's interest in mind. It shows we are ready for this NOW. The mentality of strong arming our importance globally needs to bow for a handshake and effort of goodwill, or at least a chance. The United States needs to be respected for the right reasons, as we have been for most of history. Recent years have brought us some terrible trials, and our response was from the gut, out of anger, to prove our point. We all know that doesn't work in our families and communities. Now domestic problems have us here, shaking our heads, backing up and taking a new look. Now what? We all may not be solidly behind Barack Obama, but I think we do feel a bit safer, more patient maybe, that we have the level-headedness of Obama and Biden to take a fresh look at our situation and see where America's G.I. Joe tactics went astray. I wish my mother was alive today. She would be crying with me, a white Catholic, single mother, on the day that a truly deserving individual was elected President of the United States, and he was black to boot!!!!! God Bless America!!!!
