Remember how I told you on October 29 that
[Republican Senator Saxby] Chambliss — who has drawn fire for putting Big Sugar’s interests above those of his constituents — is facing a strong challenge from Democratic candidate Jim Martin.
Starting at a pronounced disadvantage, Martin has managed to scrap his way to a virtual tie with Chambliss — and the national Democratic tide is putting even more wind at his back.
?
Well, that wind kept blowing all the way up to Election Day — and Martin’s support grew so strong that he’s forced Chambliss into a runoff, to be held December 2.
As the runoff nears, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) is once again helping highlight Chambliss’ connections to Imperial Sugar, the company whose failure to protect its workers led to 14 deaths and introduced “combustible dust” into the national lexicon.
If you’re a Georgian, early voting has already started, so you can cast your ballot for Jim Martin today if you wish; here’s all the details on how to vote in the runoff.
Additionally, you can volunteer to help his campaign; and of course, any American can support the campaign financially as well, whether they live in Georgia or not.
Let’s get some justice for the workers of Imperial Sugar. Let’s send Jim Martin to Washington — and send Saxby Chambliss home.
