Fact-Checking the Right on Employee Free Choice

Pinocchio

ThinkProgress’ Wonk Room blog has a great post up today detailing and correcting the misleading statements being made by conservative political leaders about the Employee Free Choice Act:

In the last few weeks, conservatives have amplified their criticism of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA), a bill that passed the House but stalled in the Senate in 2007, and that may be revived in the next Congress. The EFCA would offer “a fairer path for workers to unionize” by enabling them to form a union by signing cards of consent, instead of having to undergo a full unionization campaign and vote…

These conservatives, however, are all missing the point. First, the EFCA “would not eliminate traditional elections.” Majority sign-ups, meanwhile, are “usually fairer than secret-ballot elections,” as the current method “allows companies to pressure workers through a formal campaign.

We need to keep up the effort to get Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) petitions & EFCA postcards signed and mailed. Our next US President needs to know that Union members and their families are serious about improving the lives of our non union, non organized
friends, neighbors and families. We join a Church or the boy scouts or girl scouts to learn, change and participate in activities for the common good. The Employee Free Choice Act is very important. All people who work in whatever job or profession need the Employee Free Choice Act. Sign on and send on to friends, neighbors and family all over the Country. Our goal is a Million signatures presented to the next President. Help us send MIllions of signatures, not just a Million. Come on get going, get active and THANK YOU.
