Change To Win: Pushing Obama To Victory In Oregon

Obama in Portland, Oregon

Change to Win members have been working hard to help The American Dream Candidate, Senator Barack Obama, win a victory in today's Oregon primary.

Here's a sample of what they've been doing:

  • Hundreds of Change to Win members and volunteers are working to contact voters door-to-door, over the phone and through direct mailings
  • Nearly 30,000 doors knocked and hundreds of thousands of direct mail pieces sent to Democratic households throughout the state
  • Hundreds of Change to Win members and volunteers conducting aggressive member-to-member canvass programs in key high-density precincts in Portland
  • Recruiting hundreds of volunteers and helping manage key get-out-the-vote staging locations in Portland and Tigard
  • UFCW, UNITE HERE, SEIU and Teamsters members conducting member-to-member education and mobilization efforts at worksites throughout the state
  • Change to Win unions are working in coordination with the Oregon Education Association (OEA) to help turn-out-the-vote for Barack Obama

ANOTHER UPDATE: Official CtW statement on Obama's victory:

“Change to Win members and volunteers pushed Sen. Barack Obama to victory in the Beaver State last night, bringing him the majority of pledged delegates and within reach of clinching the Democratic nomination for the president of the United States of America,” said Change to Win executive director Greg Tarpinian. “Now it’s time for the Democratic Party to unite together for victory in November and bring the change working families need.”

Notice the yellow shirts surrounding the stage? Those are our brothers and sisters from United Food and Commericial Workers who Senator Obama thanked during the rally.
