Change to Win Chair Anna Burger's official statement on the March 4 primaries:
The aggressive education and mobilization efforts of the Change to Win unions in yesterday’s key primary election states played a crucial role in turning out union members in support of Sen. Barack Obama. Change to Win members closed the gap on the double-digit lead Sen. Hillary Clinton held just weeks ago.
In just ten days from the Change to Win endorsement of Barack Obama, thousands of union volunteers were mobilized and devoted their time and energy to knock on tens of thousands of doors, make hundreds of thousands of phone calls and barnstorm worksites. Change to Win members support Sen. Obama as the candidate with the best vision and program to restore the American Dream for America’s workers. He has instilled a new enthusiasm in the political process based on a campaign of hope rather than despair and made us believe that together we can make a difference.
We strongly stand with Barack Obama and will continue our fight to help make him the next president of the United States. We will be in every primary and caucus state working to education and mobilize our members to support the American Dream candidate, Barack Obama.
It's important to note that these primaries are not winner-take-all; delegates are generally awarded in proportion to how much of the popular vote the candidate wins. So by helping Senator Obama narrow the gap between himself and Senator Hillary Clinton, Change to Win workers helped him win enough delegates to maintain his substantial lead in pledged delegates.
And speaking of the hard work Change to Win workers did for Senator Obama, here's some great pictures from Cleveland, Ohio, where CtW workers were joined by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) and actor Forest Whitaker to turn out the vote for Obama:
UPDATE (1:35PM): More pictures! These are of Senator Obama and Teamsters General President Jim Hoffa rallying in Cleveland's warehouses on February 26:

When Obama loses the nomination campaign, do you think that Hilary will take our endorsement with no hard feelings? Playing it safe didn't turn out to be very safe this time guys!!!!!!

Every election season, union public relations departments publish pictures of HAPPY union workers supporting the candidates selected by union officers. One cannot help but wonder what they are so HAPPY about? According to the New York Times:
“The median household earned $48,201 in 2006, down from $49,244 in 1999, according to the Census Bureau. It now looks as if a full decade may pass before most Americans receive a raise.”
Unions HAPPILY keep supporting candidates who oversee our ever declining wages and standard of living. Is it not time for a REAL “CHANGE TO WIN” program. That is change to win higher wages and standard of living - a REAL pro labor total national economics program.
