Green Jobs are Good Jobs

Good Jobs Green Jobs

We've probably all heard somebody assert at some point that there's a tradeoff between economic prosperity and environmental friendliness.

But why should that have to be? Refitting the American economy to run "green" will be an enormous task -- a task that can create whole new categories of good jobs for America's workers.

So it's exciting to see that the Blue Green Alliance will be convening a conference in Pittsburgh next month -- Good Jobs Green Jobs -- on this very subject, bringing together leaders from labor, the environmental movement, the energy sector, architecture, science and academia to share ideas on how to build a green economy that works for everybody. (Change to Win is among many groups who have come on board as conference conveners.)

They've got an impressive lineup of speakers set, including Gerry Hudson, International Executive Vice President of SEIU. So if you're interested in this subject, this would appear to be the place to be on March 13 and 14. Registration is $150 per person; you can register online through the conference Web site, but registration closes on March 3 so if you're interested you probably shouldn't put off registering for too long.
