CtW Convention 2007: John Edwards

Former North Carolina Senator and current Presidential candidate John Edwards joined the Change to Win Convention in Chicago on September 25 to share with us his thoughts on the future of the American Dream, and to take questions from the delegates.

What a great speaker, and great advocate for labor. Who has walked more picket lines with more workers that Edwards?

John Edwards has the best healthcare plan and I do believe that we need Universal Healthcare.

John edwards gave another wonderful speach reflecting reality.

Its time the democrats elect edwards, a leader who dosen't need a script to say and do the right things for working familes.

I met John Edwards in Dallas, TX at a book signing. The venue was packed, but he took considerable time with each person in line at the signing table, including me. More than any presidential candidate I can remember in my lifetime (I'm 62), Edwards rings true. Touch him where you will, he rings true. I don't mind his being wealthy because he got that way going to bat for working people like me. By the way, did you count the number of standing ovations he got? I counted EIGHT. He's the one I'll be voting for in the primary. My only misgiving about his speech: I don't think the "Promised Land" references work for him, but I'm sure he means them with all his heart.

It is important to honor growth with greater knowledge. When a candidate learns overtime and changes, I think that is admirable. When the words and actions differ within a moment, that for me is reason for concern.

Edwards on "Universal Health Care." . . .

Choice between Public and Private Insurers: Health Care Markets will offer a choice between private insurers and a public insurance plan modeled after Medicare, but separate and apart from it. Families and individuals will choose the plan that works best for them. This American solution will reward the sector that offers the best care at the best price. Over time, the system may evolve toward a single-payer approach if individuals and businesses prefer the public plan.

John Edwards, This guy is the type of populist leader with follow through that America needs so desperately, we need a new deal once again and Edwards is the man to do the job.

John Edwards is the only candidate who speaks for the working people of our country. He speaks the word Union with the pride union members feel. For the first time in many years, organized labor has a candidate who has been with us on our picket lines and in our many campaigns. Organized labor, Change to Win, let's endorse the best candidate, John Edwards.

In unity,

I have heard Elizabeth Edwards speak and think that a team like the Edwards in the White House will promote the esteeem and respect of the world for the USA.

Edwards is, by far, the best of the top three Democratic candidates. Except for his typical "everything on the table" position on Iran, he is my candidate.

Peace now and forever!

John Edwards is the most labor friendly candidate we have had in many years. To keep our labor movement strong and vital we need and should support his candidacy.

Mary Robinson said on October 5, 2007 at 6:34 PM:

Look hiw comfortable and passionate he is talking to union members who he calls, "Brothers and Sisters." They are our brothers and sisters and he is the one to teach all of America what is owed to the labor movement. With a President John Edwards, everyone in America will be taught what is owed, what the history is of the middle class, that didn't exist before the union movement. This man is authentic! If you believe what eh says, please donate to the campaign on my page. Thanks -Mary Robinson

The speech was directed to only one sector of the working force. It did not touch on the most vital issue of all Gobal Warming! protection for the disabled, seniors and others who cannot survive on
Social Security and have special needs such as safe living facilities. It was so onesided it certainly would not have convinced me to vote for him. However, I gather my information from
many sources so this one-sided speech to a special
audience has not changed my mind, and I will vote
for John Edwards, given the opportunity.

I have been a supporter of John Edwards since the March 2004 Primary. Edwards is not afraid to say it like it is...He knows the Pharmaceutical and Insurance Companies and their lobbyist are not interested in We the People---they are concerned with Corporate profit! Edwards understands the importance of regulation- the importance of opportunity for every person...In John Edwards America - there will be both peace anf justice...
Edwards will restore the dismantled Constitution...Edwards for Change- Edwards for America!!!

We need a leader in the white house that will stand for Amercians rights. That is for the working class, Gun owners , family matters, and one that is for GOD and The BIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
