Bush Says NO to Children's Health Care, Wagons

Thought Bush's veto of SCHIP was heartless? Yesterday, the White House turned away children who hauled mailbags of petitions to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in their Radio Flyers.

SCHIP is a successful, universally respected program that provides health insurance coverage to millions of poor children, who are otherwise uncovered.

The Bush Administration argues that the reauthorization extends the coverage to children whose parents can afford health care and is a step towards a government-controlled model.

Here's a tip to the geniuses who work at the White House... sending someone out to talk to the kids and accept the petitions, maybe even patting a few on the head and commending their civic participation, could go along way in winning the PR war. You lost this battle.
