Yearly Kos: CtW Leaders Meet the Netroots

I wasn't the only person from Change to Win who made it to Yearly Kos -- some of the leaders of CtW unions were there as well.

Andy Stern

Andy Stern of SEIU had a lunchtime keynote discussion on the labor issues of the 21st century with Harold Meyerson of the Washington Post. It was a great session -- Meyerson asked some tough questions, Stern made some great points, and the (large) audience seemed attentive and receptive.

Perhaps the biggest item to come out of the session was Stern's discussion of Qvisory -- a new project being developed by SEIU and the Rockefeller Foundation to help young workers get financial advice and health insurance, regardless of whether they belong to a union or not. Qvisory has not officially launched yet, so it was cool for the audience to get an "inside look" on what SEIU has been working on.

Hoffa at YearlyKos

Another Change to Win leader was there as well -- the Teamsters sponsored a big cookout on Saturday afternoon, and Teamster President Jim Hoffa rolled up to the cookout in a Teamster truck, accompanied by Daily Kos founder Markos MoulitsasHere's the video of Hoffa's speech to the crowd, and heeeeere's Markos!
