Janitors in three Midwestern cities -- Columbus, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati -- have joined together to help each other reach the American Dream. A janitor in the region can earn as little as $28 per day, without health or any other benefits.
Today, four janitors went to the headquarters of Cincinnati's largest bank, Fifth Third, to ask them to give the janitors who clean their buildings good jobs with good health care. In response, the janitors were arrested.
Linda Watson, one of the arrested workers, explained why she was willing to stand up:
Cincinnati is home to some of the richest companies in the country. There’s no reason hard-working people should be struggling just to afford health care or worrying how we’ll pay our rent.
