Catch Andy Stern on Bill Moyers Journal Tonight

bill-moyersDo you own one of those new-fangled talking picture boxes ("tele-vision", I believe they call it)?

Then be sure to tune in Bill Moyers Journal on your local PBS affiliate this weekend. SEIU President Andy Stern will be answering some important questions: What does the new global economy mean for your family? What does the economic gap between average families and the wealthiest Americans mean for workers? Is there a solution to America’s health care crisis? How are unions part of the solution?

In most markets, the show will air tonight; some places will see it tomorrow. Find your local PBS station for airtimes in your area.

How great to see someone on TV telling it as it really is. Andy Stern is correct in saying that much needs to be done right now. But I believe most people do not realize just how very very late it already is. The scope of change needed to save the country is even beyond the agenda of Change to Win. The ultimate Issue - and Campaign -that Change to Win needs to persue is Democracy. The US is not really a democracy, but a DOLLARocracy. Everyone who reads this message knows that this is the truth. Until the playing field is made much more level, where People and Profit can compete more equally, nothing will ever really change for the better. The rules of the game have been written by money. All progressive organizations spend too much of their time and resources overcoming built in obstacles in the rules of the game. The rules have to be rewritten, and it is us - real working people - that have to rewrite them. Such people as Obama, Clinton (six years on the Board of Directors of Wal-Mart), Edwards, Kelly, Gore, etc. etc. won't rewrite the rules; they listen to money before they listen to us. Change to Win is one of the few (if only) organizations that has the size to bring a better degree of Democracy to the country, and only through a more ture Democracy can the changes to win be accomplished.
