Media Advisory: Workers to Speak Out on How Employee Free Choice Act Would Ensure Fairness in the Workplace

Tuesday, February 27, 2007

Washington, D.C. -- A Laborer and a Teamster who encountered company interference when they tried to unite with their co-workers to achieve the American Dream will speak at a press conference in support of the Employee Free Choice Act on Capitol Hill tomorrow, February 28, at 11 a.m.  Kenny Tucker and Anishya Sanders, both members of Change to Win unions, will share their first-hand experiences of how they and fellow workers faced harassment, intimidation and firings simply for exercising their freedom to choose a voice at work.

What: Press conference with workers to promote the Employee Free Choice Act

Who:

    * Kenny Tucker, Teamster*, Driver at Quickway Carriers, Landover, MD
    * Anishya Sanders, Laborer*, All Pro Traffic Controller, Las Vegas, NV

When: Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at 11:00 am ET

Where: 2261 Rayburn House Office Building

The Employee Free Choice Act has strong bipartisan support in Congress. EFCA would provide workers like Kenny and Anishya a fair and democratic way to unite on the job, and to work with management to improve the quality of services they deliver to their communities.
