Field Coordinator: Green Jobs Campaign
Change to Win seeks a Field Coordinator to work on a joint initiative with the Laborers International Union of North America (LiUNA!) to build a high-road residential energy efficiency industry that creates family-supporting jobs and career opportunities for residents of low-income communities.
Change to Win is a dynamic coalition of five of North America's most progressive labor unions and a leading force for social, racial and economic justice in our country. The nearly six million members of Change to Win unions have united to renew hope, opportunity and prosperity for American workers and their families. Change to Win is devoted to building a movement of working people with the power to restore the American Dream—a paycheck that can support a family, affordable health care, a secure retirement, and dignity at work.
Change to Win is currently recruiting experienced field operatives, research analysts, and communications and business development professionals to support groundbreaking campaigns to organize workers in emerging green industries and help realize President Obama’s vision of a clean energy economy that works for everyone.
The Field Coordinator will work closely with Change to Win and LiUNA! staff and allies (including Sierra Club, Partnership for Working Families, Green for All, Center for American Progress, Blue-Green Alliance, and Apollo Alliance) to develop and execute multi-pronged campaigns that seek to align grassroots organizing, policy, and industry development in multiple states and local markets.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Work closely with CtW and LiUNA! staff and leaders in multiple markets to design and execute effective plans to raise labor standards, organize workers, and grow residential energy efficiency markets
- Serve as a resource to local LiUNA! staff and leaders by developing expertise on policy, programs, companies, and decision-makers relevant to the residential energy efficiency sector
- Identify and develop strategies to fill gaps in campaign capacity and support local organizing efforts
- Represent CtW and the campaign as required in meetings and public speaking engagements
- Help to track, organize and share information among campaign staff, LiUNA! leadership, and key allies
- Extensive travel will be required
Job qualifications:
- Five or more years of relevant social justice or other campaign experience including multi-state work
- A track record of successful work in complex campaign environments that require the applicant to build strong professional relationships with diverse stakeholders and align potentially divergent interests
- Excellent people skills and strategic thinking skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate complex analysis and conclusions to a broad audience including affiliate union leaders and allies
- Strong commitment to social justice and to working as a team player
