We are looking for community/labor organizers to be part of an innovative national campaign to organize retail workers. Organizers will work as part of a team to directly help low-wage and immigrant workers in the retail industry win better working conditions and a voice at their job. Organizers will work at the grassroots level to mobilize low-wage workers, build community support, conduct important field research, and develop organizing tactics & strategy designed to reform jobs across the retail industry.
The organizer position is full-time, salaried with benefits. The position includes a paid training period.
Qualifications: We are looking for local activists dedicated to fighting for justice and organizing the unorganized. Must be ready to work hard, have a commitment to learn organizing and must have some experience in social justice work such as grassroots organizing, campus organizing, community organizing, political organizing or union activism. Must have solid writing, verbal and people skills; must be willing to work irregular hours. Bilingual English/Spanish a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive a car is required.
